Welcome to Counting Kaleries! My name is Amanda, founder of Counting Kaleries. I am so glad you’ve stopped by today. I created this blog because I know what it feels like to give up on yourself. I know what if feels like to let your health go while you take care of everyone else around you.
I am a Mother, a Blogger, and a Coach who strives to motivate and empower women to take back their lives by loving and taking care of their bodies
For years I struggled with my weight and always worried about that number on the scale. This caused me to try various diets over the years, many unsafe for the body. I wasn’t in a place where I loved my body and would try anything, even if it was harmful, to drop those numbers on the scale. This type of dieting caused a lot of yo-yoing on the scale and ultimately, weight gain.
I continued to fail one diet after another and continued to let my self-esteem drop from the continuous “failures”.
I’ve finally had enough!
I was ready to be comfortable with myself. I so desperately wanted to love my body and everything about it, no matter how I thought I looked in a bathing suit.
My thought process didn’t change overnight. I can’t say it’s always been easy for me and I can’t say I’m my best self every day. Every day is a learning curve, but I strive to love myself a little more each day.
I don’t mean that narcissistic me who is making kissy faces at myself in the mirror (although sometimes that’s alright too). I’m talking about loving every inch of my body no matter the number on the scale. This includes the parts of me that wiggle and jiggle and have cellulite.
When I finally began loving my body just how it is, flaws and all, that’s when I began to see real change in my mind and body. Naturally, I began giving myself clean whole foods and staying active longer. Workouts stopped being a chore and started being my new high. Thanks to the wonderful endorphins that are released, I always have such an amazing attitude about myself and others on days that I work out.
Together, we can support and lift up one another. I want Pretty in Planks to be a safe judgement free zone for us women to share our stories and life lessons.
“Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”-Ephesians 4:32
